Tour de Gudenaa – race regulations:
Tour de Gudenaa takes place in two parts, starting respectively in Silkeborg and Ans and following the ICF’s provisions of marathonracing.

 

1.part starting in Silkeborg from 10 am for:
Men and women senior K2

2.part starting in Ans from 10 am:

Race start in Silkeborg:
Placement: All boats must be through our transferral at least 10 minutes before the start.Transferral is possible from two places – Søparken, Sølystvej and at Jyske Bank Start without having been through the transferral will result in a time penalty.

Start: There is mass start for all classes at 10 am in Silkeborg Langsø – middle pool – in front of Silkeborg Town Hall.

All paddlers must be behind the starting line no later than 5 minutes before the start and follow the starter’s command.

Any false starts or warnings will result in a time penalty of 2 min.

Warming up can take place in the northern part of the lake – up to Sølyst park.

 

The track of the 1. part is 73 km. The first two kilometers is a round in Silkeborg Langsø where the track will be marked by red buoys which all must be passed left. Then the track follows the northern part of Silkeborg Langsø up to the entrance of the Gudenaa at Aarhusvejen. On it goes on the Gudenaa to the Lake Tange which is passed between safety boats and the eastern shore. After portage / relay switch the Gudenaa is followed to the goal in Randers.

 

Race start in Ans:
Placement: All boats must be through our transferral in Ans at least 10 minutes before the start. Start without having been through the transferral will result in a time penalty.

Start:
Start for U14 and U16 kl. 10.00
Start for U18 and senior kl. 10.30
Startplass in the Lake Tange near the transferral.

All paddlers must be behind the starting line no later than 5 minutes before the start and follow the starter’s command.

Any false starts or warnings will result in a time penalty of 2 min.

Warming up can take place behind the starting line.

The track of the 2. part is 42 km. 5 km is on Lake Tange until the portage at the Tange power station. The first 5 km on LakeTange is passed between the safety boats and eastern /western bank until the portage / relay switch by the Tange power station.

After portage / relay switch the Gudenaa is followed to the goal in Randers.

 

Portage at the Tange power station: There will be portage for all paddlers taking place on the right side of the entrance to the Tange power station, where there will be a pier and a ramp from the lake. Then the portage is passed within the marked running track which is approximately 180 m – on the first part it will not be possible to receive assistance – after about a 100 m portage will be divided into three running tracks – one for relay switch – one for “no feed zone” and one for “feed Zone” – zones will be marked with marking tape and flags.

On the last 25 m of portage it is not possible to receive assistance.

Paddlers who want a voluntary break in Tange must use the exit of the “feed zone” on the right side of the running track.

All paddlers and supporters must follow the instructions given by officials – if these are not followed it may result in time penalties / disqualification.

All paddlers must have passed to portage in Tangerang before 3.30 pm – after that paddlers will be taken out of the race.

Voluntary Pitstop: It is permitted to have voluntary pit stops underway – however, there are two places respectively at the Tange power station and in Langå offering catering with various refreshments.

Last pit stop in Langå must be completed no later than 5.30 pm – after that paddlers will be taken out of the race.

Safety: Use of life jackets is compulsary until the Tange power station. For the rest of the race it is permitted just to bring the life jacket in the boat.

Safety boats will be places at the starts in Silkeborg and Ans and in the Silkeborg Langsø and Lake Tange.

Safety boats will follow the last paddlers until Tange and again from Tange to the goal in Randers.

Safety boats will be in radio contact with the OC.

Paddlers deleting from the race must soon give notice to the OC by handing over the boat number – there will be officials at checkpoints and at the portage in Tange and in Langaa.

Boat numbers: Must be visible and placed upright on the boat.

Body numbers: Must be visible and loaded onto the paddler`s back – in K2 on the rear paddler.

Deleting boats:
The boat number must be returned to the respective base points – f.i. in the catering area.

In Randers boat numbers can be handed over to the judge cart.

Assistance / Pace: It will be allowed to take pace (hang on wave) on all boats and classes participating in the race. Taking the pace of other boats which are not participating in the course will result in additional time/ disqualification.
